Volume Cast Iron Capabilities

The Shield Group have a number of facilities involved in the machining of cast iron components/assemblie; the type of components they produce are carefully assessed to suit each site specific strengths. In addition to our own larger grey and ductile foundry we purchase a wide range of castings from strategic global suppliers. They are:

Shield Engineering – 60,000 sq feet facility

Concerned in the manufacture of larger, complex medium volume components specialising in cast iron and a small amount of Aluminium.

Shield Lodge 1 – 38,000 sq feet facility

Low to medium volume cast iron machining and assembly of larger components ie. cylinder heads.

Shield Lodge 2 – 30,000 sq feet facility

Primarily involved in machining cast iron, high volume, low added value with a small amount of CNC. Mainly special purpose machines for volumes over 100,000 per annum. Site operates 24 hours a day.
